American plains/squirrel rifle in a very ornate configuration. A .35 caliber with a 28 ½” octagon barrel with a good bore – strong rifling with some light pitting. All parts are original except the ram rod is a replacement.
The lock is marked “Riddle” with simple engraving. The barrel is punch dot marked “JOHN. (N is backwards) F. BLUE. Barrel shows an old re-browned finish. Mechanics are good and the set trigger is functional.
The stock is in very good condition showing a nice stripe in the wood and a pewter end cap, brass fittings and patch box. Many engraved German silver inlays are present and very well executed, especially the acorns forward of the patch box. This particular rifle was made for someone of small stature and measures 45 inches overall.
